An unfortunate view for the new (and uninsured) owners of this vessel, as they came down the dock this morning (on Dolphin Bay/Anchorage Way), to find to find the Sheriff and myself looking over their sunken boat and large fuel spill.

The owner tells us they last checked the boat on Friday night, when they jump-started the battery.  While the cause of the sinking is unknown, it’s easy to guess the battery didn’t hold that charge, and bilge did not kick in when whatever leak occurred.

Vessel Assist was called and the boat was salvaged and towed away.  🙁  The salvage on any vessel is thousands of dollars.  It’s a great idea to make sure yours is insured before she goes into the water.
