Boating Safety Enforcement Operation
Marine Patrol Units and law enforcement personnel from Contra Costa County, San Joaquin County, Sacramento County, Sonoma County, East Bay Regional Park Police, California State Parks, State Fish & Game and the United States Coast Guard conducted a boating safety enforcement operation during the weekend of August 21-22, 2010. The operation was intended to promote safe boating through education and enforcement on the waterways near Discovery Bay.
Here are the results of the two day operation involving some 60 personnel:
Vessels contacted: 306
Vessels boarded: 160
Citations issued: 113
Boating under the influence: 3 arrests
Terminations: 8 (This means the boater did not have all or some of the
required safety equipment and was directed to the nearest marina per
mandate)
3 stolen vessels recovered, and 1 stolen trailer recovered
