Cornell University Glee Club Performance in Brentwood!  (featuring Discovery Bay’s own Chris Leyen!)

The Cornell University Glee Club will be appearing at the Liberty High School Performing Arts Center in Brentwood, Thursday, January 6, 2011 at 7:30.  The Glee Club’s Brentwood Concert is part of its 2011 California Tour—a tour that also features performances at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, UCLA’s Schoenberg Hall and Stanford’s Memorial Church.

The program will feature both classical and contemporary men’s choral music, including the California premieres of two works commissioned by the Glee Club this year from Cornell alums, David Lefkowitz, ‘86’87, and David Conte, DMA ’83.  The Glee Club’s a cappella subset, the Hangovers, will also perform a few pop favorites, and the program will close with beloved Cornell songs, including the “Evening Song” and “Alma Mater”.

The chance to hear this fine ensemble in Brentwood, who, just last year, performed at sold-out concerts in the Kennedy  and Lincoln centers in Washington D.C. and New York City is made possible through Sue Stuart, Liberty’s chorale director for thirty-five years, and Chris Leyen, a Liberty Singers alumnus and Jenny Lind vocal award recipient (2009) who is currently singing with the Club.

Tickets for the concert are $10 for General Admission and are available in advance online at gleeclub.com/events/2011catour/index.php or at the door.  Liberty Union HS District students with a student ID will receive a special discount price of $7.
