Highway 4 bypass head-on collision
Two motorists (one from Discovery Bay) were injured in a two-vehicle collision on the Highway 4 bypass on Tuesday, shortly after 1:00 pm. The accident closed the road between Sandcreek Road and Lone Tree Way for almost an hour.
The accident was first reported as a head-on collision that included a fatality. In fact: the driver of a Toyota SUV drifted over the double-yellow line and sideswiped a northbound Chevrolet Suburban. The impact caused both vehicles to roll over.
The drivers, a man and a woman, had moderate injuries that were not considered life-threatening, police said. Both were taken to John Muir Medical Center for treatment.
