Town of Discovery Bay CSD Seeking Applicants for Various Committees

The Town of Discovery Bay Community Services District is accepting letters of interest and statements of qualifications from citizens interested in participating on the following three Ad-Hoc Committees: Community Center; Communications; and FY 2011-12 Budget Review.  There are presently three public openings for each of the three committees.  Two members of the Board of Directors will also be on each committee.  The Board of Directors will make the final committee selections.

Community Center Committee     The Town of Discovery Bay CSD would like to locate a Community Center within the Town limits that will help meet the recreational needs of the community. The Community Center Committee will assist the Board of Directors with the feasibility, planning, programming, location and ongoing operations of a proposed community center in Discovery Bay.  Residents who possess skill sets in project planning, economic feasibility, construction, construction management and those who are interested in the future development of a community center in Discovery Bay are encouraged to submit a letter of interest.  Meetings will take place on a regular basis and may take place during the day or evening hours depending on the schedule established by the committee.  The committee will conclude its efforts with a final recommendation to the Board by December 2011.

Communications Committee       The Communications Committee will assist the District in formulating a variety of methods of information delivery to residents of the District.  The committee will explore prospects of enhancing the effectiveness of the Districts website, public outreach, social media methods of communication, and press interaction.  Residents who possess skill sets in communications, marketing, website development, and strategic planning are encouraged to submit a letter of interest.  Meetings will take place on a frequent basis and may take place during the day or evening hours depending on the schedule established by the committee.  The committee will conclude its efforts with a final recommendation to the Board in June 2011.

FY 2011-12 Budget Review Committee          The Budget Review Committee will analyze and provide feedback, and make recommendations to the Board of Directors on Budgetary matters facing the Board beginning in July 2011.  The committee will review past years, and current years budgets in order to gain an understanding of the many facets of the District’s financial position.  Topics for discussion and review will include revenues, expenditures, capital projects, sustainability, and strategic financial planning.  Residents who possess skill sets specific to public finance or accounting are encouraged to submit a letter of interest.  Meetings will take place on a frequent basis through June 2011.  Meetings may take place during the day or evening hours depending on the schedule established by the committee.  The committee will conclude its efforts with a final recommendation to the Board in June 2011.
