Sheriff’s Office Investigates Robbery Cases

Deputies and Detectives from the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff are currently investigating a series of strong-arm robberies that occurred in Discovery Bay.

The first happened on March 21, 2011 at about 9 PM when a group of juveniles robbed a 19-year-old pizza delivery driver on the 1400 block of Cullen Drive. The suspects took some cash, an iPod device, several pizzas and a soda. Deputy Sheriffs were not able to locate the suspects despite a search by a police K-9.

On March 22, 2011, at about 5:30 PM, a group of juveniles approached a 14-year-old boy walking on Lakeshore Circle. The juveniles attacked the boy and took his headphones. Later, at about 6:45 PM, a group of juveniles attacked two boys (ages 14 and 13) who were walking on Lakeshore Circle. The suspects took one of the boys’ iPod and fled the area. The suspects were not located despite an area search.

“We believe the same juvenile suspects are involved in the three robberies,” said Lieutenant Mike Burton of Delta Station which covers Discovery Bay. “We are giving the investigation of these robberies a high priority and are committed to identifying and arresting those responsible.”

Lt. Burton said crimes of this nature in Discovery Bay are rare.

Anyone with any information on the cases is asked call either the Office of the Sheriff at (925) 646-2441 or Lt. Mike Burton at (925) 427-8510.
