Arrests Made in Robbery Cases

Detectives from the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff yesterday arrested two suspects in connection with a series of strong-arm robberies that occurred in Discovery Bay.

One suspect is a 16-year-old male from Discovery Bay while the second suspect is a 16-year-old male from Antioch. Both have been arrested on two counts of robbery and conspiracy.  Their names are not being released because of their ages. Both have been booked into Juvenile Hall.

The first robbery took place on March 21, 2011 at about 9 PM when a group of juveniles robbed a 19-year-old pizza delivery driver on the 1400 block of Cullen Drive. The suspects took some cash, an iPod device, several pizzas and a soda.

On March 22, 2011, at about 5:30 PM, a group of juveniles approached a 14-year-old boy walking on Lakeshore Circle. The juveniles attacked the boy and took his headphones.  Later, at about 6:45 PM, a group of juveniles attacked two boys (ages 14 and 13) who were walking on Lakeshore Circle. The suspects took one of the boys’ iPod and fled the area.

“These cases were given a high priority because the violent nature of the crimes,” said Lieutenant Mike Burton of Delta Station. “Although two suspects are in custody, the investigation is still active as we are trying to identify other suspects who may be involved.”
