July 22nd and 23rd, the Big Cat Poker Run once again returns to the California Delta.
Presented by the Discovery Bay Lions Club, the Big Cat Poker Run is for only the fastest of boats. It’s not unusual for these boats to seemingly fly over the water at 120 mph.
The weekend of fun begins Friday, July 22, where local fast-boaters lead visiting boats (from all over the country) on a lunch run and tour of the Delta. A welcoming party and registration follows that evening. Saturday is the Poker Run with several stops that allow plenty of time to socialize.
You don’t need one of these super fast vessels to enjoy the Big Cat Poker Run. Bring out the family to the levy at the Discovery Bay Marina on Saturday, July 23, at about 10:00 am to watch the fast boats head out for the day. It’s an exciting, rumbling scene.
This year’s event is dedicated to the memory of Jeff Dawson, Discovery Bay’s Harbormaster, and the event always raises thousands of dollars for local charities. Check out complete details inside this month’s edition of the Delta Sun Times and on the Lions’ Big Cat website: www.bigcatpokerrun.com
