Big Cat Poker Run, Aug 17-18

The Big Cats will take over the Discovery Bay Yacht Harbor, August 17 and 18, as these super-fast beasts are in town for the Discovery Bay Lions’ annual Big Cat Poker Run.

This exciting poker run is for specialized fast boats, some of which barely touch the water as they skim along the surface at speeds in excess of 120 mph. These powerful boats are trailered in from all over the country to participate in this big-thrills event, but many locals participate as well.

Saturday, August 18, is the Big Cat Poker Run, when these loud and expensive toys rumble their way out of Discovery Bay and seemingly fly to each of several stops around the Delta before returning to the harbor for evening festivities.

Can’t run with the big cats? Bring out the family to walk the levy at the Discovery Bay Yacht Harbor just after 9:00 am, Saturday, August 18, to catch a glimpse of the fast boats as they head out for the day. It’s an exciting, rumbling scene.

The Discovery Bay Lions Club has raised in excess of $100,000 for local charities over the years with this outstanding fundraising event. To register, or for more information: www.bigcatpokerrun.com
