(SATURDAY, JULY 13) —– Bon Gusto’s of Byron is closing it’s doors. The Bon Gusto’s establishment has been a landmark in Byron since the 1920’s. Some lifelong customers are now in their 70’s. This indoor/outdoor tavern is a popular watering hole and customers say it will be missed.
Bon Gusto’s will hold a final Farewell BBQ & Party on July 26 and 27 and the staff there is encouraging all of the customers, past and present to join them.
Staff members explained there are legal reasons for the closing which could not be discussed. The owner of the Wild Idol is also an owner of Bon Gusto’s and his future plans for the building site are unknown.
Bon Gusto’s released this statement on Friday, July 12:
“After 2 Decades Of Good Friends, Fun, Laughter, Bqq’s, & Let’s Be Honest – Some Good Old Fashion Rowdiness – The “Local’s Favorite Bar” BON GUSTO’S Will Be Closing Our Doors July 31st…. This just makes me sad. I have many great memories from Bon Gustos including meeting my husband, who happened to be one of the bartenders at the time, along with many others Im happy to call friends. The owner of Wild Idol may own the building and the property on which Bon Gustos sits but we all know who owns that bar.
Wishin her all the best in whatever her next venture may be~~ Love you Susie!
