Rocktoberfest will be held this Saturday, October 12, on the vast green grounds of the Discovery Bay Community Center property, located directly across the street from the Discovery Bay Shopping Center (the event’s original location). The community center property allows for greater parking opportunities, an enclosed area for the kids alley, a large grassy field for the concert, and more space for the Cupcake Wars competition, mechanical bull riding, and the huge number of participating vendors. This not-for-profit event benefits from the use of the community center property, as will also avoid large fees from the Contra Costa Planning Department for Special Event Permits that seriously inhibit the feasability of community events like this one.
In a letter from the Chamber of Commerce, directors explained:
“We didn’t expect this! Response to Saturday’s Rocktoberfest has been amazing! So much so, that we have to move the venue! And thanks to the Town of Discovery Bay, we will be hosting the October 12th event of the year at the Discovery Bay Community Center – right across the street from the original location!
This community and its neighbors have really come together to support our local schools, clubs, and organizations.
Thanks to over 30 vendors, the Cupcake Wars, Kids Alley, great food and drink, beautiful cars and motorcycles, and a concert performed by The Department of Rock, this party is for everyone.
Rocktoberfest hours are 2:00pm to 6:30pm. There is no entry fee. Come out and do a little pre-holiday shopping for that one-of-a-kind item, vote on your ‘best-dressed’ cupcake, drop the little ones off at Kids Alley while you enjoy the music and visit with friends, or challenge your buddy to a mechanical bull contest!
And the best part? Here are the beneficiaries of this day: Discovery Bay Elementary, Timber Point Elementary, Excelsior Middle School, Liberty High School Band Boosters, Liberty High School Choir, Byron Delta Lions, Discovery Bay Lions Club, and many local clubs.
Please thank our sponsors: Intero Real Estate, Sasville Properties and Brentwood Press! They rock! And a special thanks to Pro-Image Sportswear for providing event tee shirts!
See you all Saturday. Follow the signs, parking at the Discovery Bay Shopping Center. For more information on the event, visit our website: discoverybaychamber.com.”
