Nominations Wanted for Citizen & Business of the Year
The Discovery Bay Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations for its 2013 Business and Citizen of the Year awards. The two distinguished honors are awarded each year to a local business or organization in the community who has demonstrated outstanding business acumen; and a resident of Discovery Bay who has performed meritorious service above and beyond that which would be expected of a citizen.
The winner of the awards will be recognized at the chamber’s State of the Town Gala dinner on January 18, 2014. The annual sold-out event attracts more than 100 guests including award winners, sponsors, business leaders, and elected officials.
“Each year the chamber honors one of our many outstanding business members, as well as the Citizen of the Year,” said Chris Middleton, Discovery Bay Chamber president. “This is a much-anticipated event that recognizes local leaders for their community efforts that make a difference in our area.”
The Citizen of the Year will be honored for extraordinary service exemplified as a part of their vocation or as community service at large. Meritorious service shall include individual, patriotic, organizational and/or business accomplishments and community activities. Citizen of the Year nominees must be residents of Discovery Bay. The winner of the Citizen of the Year award becomes the Grand Marshall at the Discovery Bay Parade of Lights in December.
To qualify for Business of the Year, small, medium and large businesses in both profit and not-for-profit categories will have demonstrated a track record of best practices in business sustainability and growth, achievement and leadership, and Discovery Bay community involvement. To be eligible for consideration, nominees must be a Discovery Bay Chamber of Commerce member in good standing. Business of the Year nominees do not need to be physically located in Discovery Bay, but must meet the criteria.
The Business of the Year winner will receive recognition at all chamber events throughout the year; a spotlight article in the Delta Sun Times and Discovery Bay Press; and name of business and logo for one year on the Discovery Bay Chamber of Commerce website. All nominee finalists will be recognized at the State of the Town event as well.
Deadline to submit an application is Monday, December 16, 2013, 4:00 p.m. For complete criteria details and nominating forms visit http://www.discoverybaychamber.com. For additional information, contact Chris Middleton at chris@chrysalis-marketing.com.
