12th Annual Discovery Bay Parade of Lights, Saturday, December 6

It’s time for the 12th Annual Discovery Bay Parade of Lights & Holiday Tree Lighting!

This delightful holiday parade winds it’s way through the streets of Discovery Bay, from the Marina to Discovery Bay Boulevard.  The Parade of Lights boasts dozens of lighted float and vehicle entries and attracts thousands of attendees.

This year’s parade theme is “Holiday Pirates!” so expect lighted floats decorated with an exciting Caribbean flair, from pirate ships and treasure chests, to dancing wenches. Does Santa have a peg leg? We’ll see about that, too.

The Discovery Bay Parade of Lights & Tree Lighting Ceremony is proudly presented by the Discovery Bay Lions Club. “We simply could not hold this event without the tremendous volunteer support of the Discovery Bay Lions Club,” said parade director and founder, Amanda Dove.  “The Lions started the holiday festivities many years before the parade began, with their annual tree lighting ceremony and photos with Santa. They will continue that tradition this year, with the tree lighting immediately following the parade,”

Discovery Bay Lions president, David Ciruli, shared his enthusiasm for the parade: “The Discovery Bay Lions are proud to bring you this incredible community event, and you can look to us to keep our community safe as we will post Lions at every parade intersection to control traffic.”  Ciruli asks that residents keep the parade route free of cars so that everyone may see and so the floats can travel unobstructed.

The Discovery Bay Parade of Lights takes place Saturday, December 6th. The parade begins at 6:00 PM at the Discovery Bay Marina and finishes at the Discovery Bay Shopping Center. The tree lighting immediately follows the parade, where parade winners will be announced.

Great parade viewing is available on Discovery Bay Boulevard, near the judging tent, and parking is available at the Discovery Bay Shopping Center.
