CALL TO ACTION!  EDITORIAL BY DELTA SUN TIMES PUBLISHER, AMANDA DOVE –

This Monday, May 4th, Discovery Bay’s ONLY fire station. Station 59, may be CLOSED. We must show up in force at the ECCFPD meeting this Monday because there is no Tuesday… the decision to close our fire station will be made Monday night. It doesn’t look good for us. If we are to be heard, we must go in with amazing force and strong numbers to voice our concerns.

If they close our station, the next closest station is in downtown Brentwood. What’s at stake? Your insurance for one. Insurance companies see that distance as basically being outside a fire service area – and our rates could skyrocket.

Of even greater importance is the response time. 8.6 miles to Discovery Bay School and even further to the marina. Response times could easily be 15-20 minutes on every call.

Take a stand for Discovery Bay and let them know our community matters!

The East Contra Costa Fire Protection District (ECCFPD) meeting will be held at 6:30 PM this Monday, May 4th, at Oakley City Hall on Main Street. Please find a way to be there.

I will be wearing Discovery Bay blue, so they know who they’re dealing with.  Please, join me.

Thank you

Amanda Dove

    1. The article in the CCTimes is not accurate. Chief Henderson certainly doesn’t want to see the DB Station close but the board and union are pushing in a different direction.
