THE TOWN OF DISCOVERY BAY GENERAL MANAGER ANNOUNCES DEPARTURE
Town of Discovery Bay General Manager Rick Howard notified the Board of Director’s on Wednesday January 27, 2015 that February 19, 2016 would be his final day with the Town. Howard was appointed to his post in June 2010.
Howard is leaving to take the reins of the Orange County Mosquito and Vector Control District.
Howard notes as some of his achievements the acquisition and opening of the long-awaited Community Center, the Town’s recognition as a California District of Distinction, and significant upgrades to the town’s water and wastewater processing systems. Most of all, he says, he will miss the community, and the many friends he has met since his arrival. “I didn’t know a soul when I arrived, and I’m leaving with a phone book full of new friends. It’s definitely a bitter-sweet decision, but ultimately, in my best interest and that of my family”, Howard stated.
On Saturday, January 30, 2015, Catherine Kutsuris was appointed Interim General Manager by the Board of Directors to fill the vacancy created by Howard’s departure. Kutsuris’ contract is expected to be ratified by the Board at their February 3, 2016 meeting. Ms. Kutsuris will help guide the district until it finds a permanent replacement General Manager. That process is expected to last approximately 6 months.
