Dell’Osso Family Farm Kicks off Inaugural Bacon Celebration with Cook-Off Contests
Lathrop, California- Baconfest at Dell’Osso Family Farm in Lathrop has set a date for its inaugural celebration of America’s Mightiest Meat, BACON, featuring bacon from Sunnyvalley Smoked Meats. Don’t Miss It ~ Father’s Day Weekend, Saturday and Sunday, June 18 & 19, 2016. A weekend of Bacon, Beer, Bands and so much more!
Baconfest is kicking off its bacon-obsessed event on March 15th with a search for Professional and Amateur Cook-Off Contestant entries. To qualify, Professional Chefs and Amateur Cooks alike are being encouraged to submit signature bacon recipes and information online at http://baconfest.com/cooking-contest/. Entries must be submitted before Sunday, May 1st at 5pm PST to qualify to compete for Amateur and Professional prizes and acclaim.
Both competitions will be conducted “Mystery Basket Style” live on stage with celebrity judges and will be emceed both days by Guy Fieri, Chef, Restaurateur, Author and Host of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.
Professional cooking contest submissions must include: a completed online official entry form, ingredient list, step-by-step preparation instructions, temperatures and timing and include a color photo of their completed dish. Professional chefs will compete for a Grand Prize trophy and special gourmet experience at the French Laundry in Napa including an overnight stay and spa package.
Amateur cooking contest entries require the same information but amateurs can enter individually or as a team of two. In addition, amateurs must post a video of the recipe’s preparation to demonstrate their personality which is as important to being selected as the creative use of bacon, taste and presentation.
“We’re looking for the best bacon recipes to qualify the professional and the amateur entries,” said Yvonne Sampson, who is coordinating the online entries in both categories. “What will determine selection of a professional contestant is: creative use of bacon, taste and presentation. While bacon is the star ingredient, with amateurs, it’s just as important to show off the pizzazz in their personality, key to being selected for their chance to win the Amateur Prize of $3,000 in cash.”
Eight Professional and eight Amateur Cook-Off finalists will be chosen on May 15, 2016.
The Amateur Cook-Off Contest will be held Saturday, June 18th and the Professional Chef Cook-Off Contest held on Sunday, June 19th on the “TRUCK” the Ultimate Culinary Competition Food Stage.
In addition to the cook-off contests, there will be dozens of Bacon Alley Food Vendors selling bacon-charged food and 20 microbrews with the hottest selling beers to pair with bacon dishes.
