On behalf of the Governing Board I would like to introduce Mrs. Rami Muth as Byron Union School District’s Interim Superintendent.
Rami served as Superintendent of the Martinez Unified School District for 8 years until her retirement in June of 2016. Martinez has a TK- adult school program serving a diverse student population of over 4,200 students. Known as an innovative leader, Rami brought important resources to the district by forging strong, positive relationships with the community and many outside agencies. During her tenure she facilitated a process of shared leadership that built instructional capacity and a positive climate of acceptance and civility.
During her 40 year career in education she served as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction and as a Coordinator of BTSA, PAR, GATE and Secondary Literacy. She was also a site principal of a Title I elementary school. Yet, despite her many roles, she credits her twenty-two years of classroom teaching as the foundation for all of her work in education.
In her retirement she has continued to use her passion for education by becoming an educational consultant; coaching and delivering professional development for superintendents. She recently became a Sandy Hook Promise presenter in middle and high schools and coordinates workshops for teachers and parents in support of a social and emotional learning curriculum called, Choose Love. Muth says, “School safety is far more than implementing protocols and door locks. While these external elements are essential, they alone do not adequately address how to create safer schools for our children. I believe that we must also address the social and emotional needs of the students by creating a culture and environment that addresses bullying and violence of all kinds.”
Mrs. Muth is married and lives with her husband in Benicia. They have two adult daughters and two granddaughters. She will be working in Byron until a permanent replacement is hired and will be in the District 2-3 days a week. Please join me in welcoming her to the Byron Union School District.
