A much-loved husband, father, brother, son, son-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend

Michael Santos, age 48 went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 18th, 2019.

Born March 1st, 1971 in Castro Valley, CA, he was a lifelong resident of San Lorenzo and graduated from Moreau High School in Hayward.  Michael relocated to Discovery Bay in 2007 when he and Heather opened up Loards Ice Cream of Brentwood, earning the Brentwood’s Best Award each year.  Michael worked for FedEx for 27 years in several different capacities. As a Tractor Trailer Driver for over 20 years, he earned the Hallmark of Safe Driver Award for each of those years.

He was united in marriage with his high school sweetheart Heather on September 10th, 1994, together since 1988. He loved to spend time with his wife and three beautiful children; Michael Jr., Brooke-Lynn and Lacey-Lynn. He was their number one fan, cheerleader, coach and supporter; From creating vision boards with them to pushing them beyond their limits because he always saw their greatest potential. He was all about his family. Always working hard to fulfil their dreams.

Michael’s latest passion was cycling.  He was an avid bicyclist and competed in many Spartan obstacle course races with the family, recently leading the P2P Road Warriors Cycling Team in Brentwood.  Michael was driven by his goals and his family interest in racing since he was very young.  In his younger years with Pops by his side, he raced cars with SCCA and Jet Skis with IJSBA.  Other pastimes include attending Oakland Athletic baseball games, going on family hikes, and doing research to share his knowledge on various topics.  The self-proclaimed “Google King” would have answers for you within minutes if you had any question for him.  He was best known for his persistence and never give up attitude. Not to mention his sense of humor and playful personality.

He was preceded in death by grandparents Wesley “Pops” Santos and Shirley “Nana” Santos and mother Deborah Santos.

He is survived by his wife Heather, his son Michael Jr., daughters Brooke-Lynn and Lacey-Lynn, in-laws; Linda (Rick) Love, Chuck (Barb) Hughes, Papa Smith, Brother-in-law; Sean (Tami) Hughes, Ricky Love, Sister-in-laws; Julie (Aaron) Luke, Gina (Ben) Zbikowski, Sisters; Krista Giordanella, Angelica Giordanella, countless nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 3pm to 7pm, Thursday July 11, 2019 at Campos Family Vineyards, 3501 Byer Road, Byron, CA 94514, services will begin at 4pm. Reception immediately following.
