Candidates Wanted!

Your Schools and Your Town Need You!

The Town of Discovery Bay Community Services District, Byron Union School District, and Liberty Union High School District each have two positions up for election on the ballot this November! The need for smart, level-headed and creative thinkers / compassionate community members has never been greater. Consider offering your time and talents to your community.

Offices Up for Election:

Byron Union School District (BUSD)

2 Governing Board Members (positions currently held by Sue Vinyard and David Turner)

BUSD oversees three district schools: Timber Point Elementary, Discovery Bay Elementary, and Excelsior Middle School.

Liberty Union High School District (LUHSD)

2 Governing Board Members (positions currently held by Ray Valverde and Yolanda Pena-Mendrick)

LUHSD oversees public high schools in Oakley and Brentwood: Liberty, Heritage, Freedom, Independence and La Paloma.

Town of Discovery Bay Community Services District (DB CSD)

2 Directors (Director positions currently held by Bill Pease and Bill Mayer)

It’s a little like being on a city council, but with a fraction of the power, as the DB CSD is primarily an advisory body and reports to the County Board of Supervisors. Still, somebody has to be the voice of the community!

CANDIDATE FILING:

The Candidate filing period for offices in Schools, Community College, and Special Districts ends August 7th, 2020 in order to appear on the November 2020 ballet.

Filing for office will be conducted at the County Administration Building, 651 Pine Street, in the Chambers of the Board of Supervisors. Elections staff will issue documents and accept filings from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm daily. Appointments for filing the Declaration of Candidacy will be made at the time papers are issued.
