The Delta Protection Commission invites you to attend either of two public workshops on the management plan process for the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta National Heritage Area (NHA).
In 2019, Congress designated the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta and Carquinez Strait as the first NHA in California. Now it’s time to plan for the future of this special place. We will discuss the types of initiatives that the NHA could pursue, what stories you want to tell about the region, and how partners can be involved in the NHA.
The workshops are scheduled for:
Monday, August 30Benicia Veterans Memorial Hall,1150 1st Street, Benicia
5:15 PM to 6:00 PM – Open House
Tuesday, August 31 @ Jean Harvie Community Center,14273 River Road, Walnut Grove
6:00 PM to 8:00 PM – Meeting
NHAs are nationally significant living landscapes – places that recognize their history, heritage, and culture while advancing and changing. NHAs are community-driven and serve as catalysts for community revitalization projects, such as the revitalization of historic Main Streets, investments in historic and cultural attractions, trails, riverfront access, and development of business opportunities. The Delta Protection Commission is the coordinating entity for the NHA, one of 55 NHAs across the country. For more information about the Delta National Heritage Area, visit our website. Register for Workshop (Monday, August 30 or Tuesday, August 31)
